Charlotte will fill you in on the details of the day in a post next week, but we wanted to share the slideshow of photos that the Jennifer and Brent asked us to project at the end of the evening as a surprise to their friends and family.

We put down our cameras around 10pm, and by 11 we rolled the projector into the reception hall and presented the following slideshow….

The response from family and friends was overwhelming. There were many tears of joy shared throughout the slideshow and a LOT of very sweet gestures between fathers and daughters, husbands and wives and boyfriends and girlfriends.

I tell you honestly - I’ve never been so taken aback by people’s love for one another at a wedding.

We’ll tell you more about the day next week, but in the meantime we hope you enjoyed the photos : )

Unlike John, Jung had always called Korea home and once John popped the question the travel plans began. This would be Jung’s first visit to Canada and what better reason then to marry the man she loves. John and Jung were having a traditional Korean wedding so it was very important to them to have a photographer that was experienced and knew to respect and honour these traditions.

The couple has a large family on both sides so getting everyone overseas is a big feat. Jung’s immediate family flew over with the couple and to celebrate the big day. The celebrations will continue on when they arrive home to Korea where they have another party planned to honour their marriage.

After the ceremony we strolled around Edwards Gardens and caught some candid shots of the two together for the first time as man and wife. Jung looked so beautiful and you could just see how happy John was to have her as his bride. These two were so cute together, they laughed and played around and were up for anything Dave and I had up our sleeves.

John and Jung have flown home to Korea after a short visit and beautiful wedding. Congratulations to you both and we were so honoured you selected us to photograph the most important day of your life!!

With no T.V., radio, internet, newspapers or phone this beautiful little rustic cottage is a great place to unwind and leave the noise of the hectic city behind you. Some might think that four days without all of these little luxuries would be the furthest thing from a holiday but it’s so much fun and such an amazing time! Our entertainment mainly consisted of watching the sunsets, The Continuing Adventures of Fritzi and Greta , our little tin motor boat and of course Scrabble and "Acronym Scrabble" (An illegal form of Scrabble that Dave and I invented to accumulate higher scores!)

The weather was perfect and the sun was shining on us all four days. We were even lucky enough to have a lightening show over the lake one evening, so we watched over glass of wine on our little front porch. The beauty of Canadian Cottage Country is so mesmerizing it’s truly a photographers dream.

All good things must eventually come to an end. On our last day we decided to leave a bit early and take the long way home through Ontario’s largest and best-known Provincial Park, Algonquin Park. We had asked some of the local residents what our chances were like if we wanted to do some moose-watching and they assured us that our chances were good…Especially good for some reason at approximately 4:00 in the afternoon. Heeding the advice of the local residents we made our way to moose country. We stopped many times along the way in shear excitement to view broken tree branches in the lake forming the shape of moose antlers and the rustling wind in the trees that was no doubt a Black Bear readying to launch from the bushes. We did, however spot this real life creature on our journey.

A massive snapping turtle nesting on the side of the road. We kept our distance so we would not disturb her. Dave grabbed this shot with the telephoto lens, she was enormous…and, she actually looks like she might be smiling at us.

We’re back to work now with wedding season full steam ahead. We have many more wedding posts on the way so stay tuned for our latest couple John and Jung.

We arrived to Isabelle’s condo on this lovely spring afternoon. Glancing around Isabelle’s home I couldn’t help but notice not only what a great photographer she is, but that she had so many photos from her engagement shoot beautifully framed and displayed. Seeing the photos again made Dave reflect on what an awesome couple they were and how much fun they were to photograph. As I was shooting the details…dress, bouquet, engagement ring and invites I stumbled upon a little brown jewelry box in the mix. I opened it up and saw a set of absolutely stunning diamond stud earrings… Scott had sent them to Isabelle as a wedding gift for his bride to be…what a romantic!

An ivory limousine delivered us like royalty to our second stop, The Manor in Kettleby. This was a gorgeous little spot to tie the knot with rolling hills overlooking a quaint little pond and every so often you’d catch a glimpse of the resident swan sailing by. To top everything else off, the big blue sky made for a spectacular back drop…It really was heavenly.

Although the weather was beautiful and very warm, everyone made an effort to stay cool and refreshed including the bridal bouquets. They definitely managed to withstand the hot, hot heat and stayed perfectly flawless throughout the day.

Everything from the table settings, endless delectable cuisine, charming wedding cake down to the jelly beans that coordinated with the bridal bouquets was planned to a "T".

As predicted, once again Isabelle and Scott were so much fun and a total pleasure to work with. Dave and I had a fantastic time shooting their wedding day!! Hmmm…now with 6/7/8 gone I wonder who will be the lucky couple to book 8/8/8 ??

Niagara Falls…The once “Honeymoon Capital of the World” is quickly becoming the Wedding Capital as well. With thunderstorms in the forecast Dave and I met the wedding party outside of the cutest little church and chatted about the big day ahead. Ryan and his Groomsmen waited patiently for the guests to arrive and joked around with Dave and I during our pre-ceremony shoot. We could tell the guys had a fine-tuned sense of humour that only develops with years of practicing…on each other

After the guests were seated, Dave made his way into the church. He waited for the church doors to open to capture the first moments when Ryan would see his bride. On the other side of the door I was waiting with Jen and her Father. Jen was definitely one of the most beautiful brides I had ever seen. She looked so breathtaking in her gown. I took a few shots of the two of them before the doors opened and you could feel the emotion as they walked down the aisle.

After a beautiful ceremony, we headed outside. Surprisingly enough everyone was enjoying the warm sunshine opposed to the forecasted torrential downpour. Bubbles floated by in the breeze blessing Jen and Ryan’s new marriage. While Dave was arranging the group photos outside, I caught this sweet little church mouse playing inside. Katie was so cute, I loved the way the sun spilled through the stained glass, it made her look like a little angel.

We made our way to the Niagara Parks Greenhouse , a great location to shoot in Niagara Falls. Dave set up the formals and I held the reflector to add some needed bounce to the shots. Just that little bit of soft light really helps to make the photos pop. The Greenhouse has such a variety of colours from all of the exotic flowers and hanging baskets, it really makes for a gorgeous backdrop.

Surrounded by breathtaking gardens, overlooking Niagara Falls Ryan, Jen, Dave and I pulled in to The Crowne Plaza Hotel. I have to tell you the views were absolutely spectacular! The food was fab, the details were gorgeous, but the speeches were side-splitting!!! I looked across the room at Dave and he was giggling as much as the guests. I guess that’s because Jen and Ryan’s Engagement Session made it into the mix I don’t think you could have hired a professional comedian to do a better job. Good work guys!!

After a lovely Tea Ceremony and traditional Toasting of the Bride and Groom, we wrapped up the day with a quick shoot in the lobby of hotel, these are some of our faves from the day… Congratulations Jen and Ryan we truly had a blast shooting your wedding!

Today was Greta’s big day. She was going on her first trip to meet Dr. “Oats”. I sat in the waiting room with little Greta as she peeked around at the other dogs from her new baby blue doggie bag.  

I worried what the little pup might be in for since she is so tiny and is only half the size of what she should be for a puppy her age. She sat there gazing at me with her sparkling little eyes. As any caring Daddy would be, I just wanted her to be healthy and ok.

When Dr. “Oats” met Greta, it was love at first sight. He must have spent the first 10 minutes just gushing over her. He’s that way with Fritzi too, and you can tell he just loves all animals. Greta got her check up, a quick little needle and was given a clean bill of health!! I called Charlotte right away to give her the big news, she was completely thrilled that Greta was healthy as a horse. 

Dr. “Oats” said Greta was just the runt of the litter, which means she’ll stay quite small but that doesn’t mean that she’s not healthy. When I got back to the car Greta curled up right away for a snooze. But just in case I got any ideas about taking her in for another needle she slept with one eye open!

The competition was fierce and judging the winners was very very tough. James, Charlotte and I debated for about 10 minutes which images should take the cake, and in the end, we had to award 4 images because the combined shots were SO good.

Dave and I are thrilled to say that our June 1st Photography Workshop was a HUGE success!! We had an awesome class of amazing photographers from a variety of skill levels . We had along a great friend and fellow photographer Jaymz as a guest speaker. Jaymz is so great we love working with him whenever we get a chance so we were totally stoked to have him along. And last but not least Lyz Plant our Make-up Artist. We just love love love her work. Lyz works on Loreal Fashion week, was voted one of Canada’s most influential women (Mille Feme) and she’s doing Luminato downtown Toronto that runs to now till June 16th! We are so happy to have her on board!

The class was great, Dave taught them a little bit about the business side of photography, Jaymz taught them how to "see good light" and I taught them how to pose and posing models for photography. Oh! that reminds me, did I mention the MODELS?! Alex and Amanda were the best models we could have ever asked for. They both were experienced, had a great look and as you can see photograph very well!

After Lyz had finished their make-up we took the models and class out for a modern, urban engagement shoot. We couldn’t wait to get out there and start shooting!

Alex and Amanda really know how to work it…and they’re both super gorgeous so the workshop photos looked straight out of a magazine.

We brought the class back inside for refreshments to keep the creative juices flowing… and on to our next assignment…The 7 Minute Challenge! What’s that you ask? The participants individually take their camera, knowledge of the day’s class and the models, anywhere in the building. They have exactly 7 minutes to produce 3 "winning images" one of Alex, one of Amanda and one of both models together. Photographers in the "real world" are often under pressure to create amazing images in a limited time. We created a sense of urgency for the class to see what they’d come back with…stay tuned to the blog as we announce the winners of the challenge…I think you’ll be extremely impressed with everyone’s images!

We ended the day with a creative shoot with Alex and Amanda. Lyz and I styled the shoot. Amanda had such beautiful jet black hair and Alex had a 6… oops, I mean 8 pack (sorry Alex lol!) that Hercules would die for. Lyz and I thought hmmm.. how about a Cleopatra themed creative shoot! Dave set up the Ring Flash and backdrops, I grabbed the wardrobe, Jaymz chatted with the class and Lyz started working on the make-up!

Ya know, there comes a time in every make-up artists life when you have to go above and beyond in the call of duty. Lyz had the tedious task of being in charge of Alex’s oil application. Good job Lyz!

At the end of the day we all were tired but had a great feeling of success because everything went so well! We couldn’t have asked for a better group of people. Thanks to everyone and keep checking back to the blog the winning images will be posted soon!!!

When Rav and Graham met, they lived on other sides of the country, Rav on west coast and Graham on the east. But soon enough their love for each other would bring them together and now they are man and wife. I just love fairytale stories like this.

We started off the day at Osgoode Hall, a beautiful spot in downtown Toronto to shoot because of it’s unique old world charm. We were so lucky to have gorgeous pink cherry blossoms flowing in the wind it really was enchanting!

From Osgoode Hall, the wedding party hit the streets. Dave and I had a few choice locations in mind but we couldn’t resist the Canada Life Building and the nearby TD Tower made for a few stylin’ shots.

No that’s not a Harry Rosen ad, that’s Graham and his Groomsmen rockin’ it…as Dave would say!

After the shoot we made our way to Canoe Restaurant, one of Toronto’s most exclusive fine dining experiences. It’s located on the 52nd floor of the TD Tower and the views of the Toronto skyline are as spectacular as the food! As the guests were awaiting the Bridal Party, we caught these little darlings doing what they do best…kids just being kids

The little flower girl was soo cute, she loved sniffing her beautiful bouquet during the ceremony. Hmmm, I guess we should all take the time to stop and smell the roses sometimes!

After a beautiful Wedding and Tea Ceremony Rav and Graham were now husband and wife! With so many friends and family along to celebrate the day you knew this couple is loved by many great people.

Because Ravenna and now Graham are such Foodie’s they did not hold out in the cuisine department!! Everything from the hors d’oeuvres to the desserts were absolutely delectable. The details were just as fabulously done…great job you two…and the floral bouquets were absolutely breathtaking.

It was the end to what couldn’t have been a more perfect day. Dave and I loved being a part of it all and to document the union of this really sweet couple. Congratulations you two!!

In order to accommodate so many wagging tails, the city of Toronto shuts down the section of Front St. right outside St. Lawrence Market. Check out the shot below Greta was actually named after this pretty Dachshund because “Big Greta” and I were neighbours not so long ago, isn’t she cute!

We met so many wonderful dogs and their owners on our stroll check out this giant Great Dane, he makes Fritty look like an ant! We and so many great vendors as well. We nearly cleaned out ShopPuppyLove.com. Fritizi got his brand new Puppia harness (very sharp!) and Greta got a new tank top, jacket and puppy bag. It was great because all of the proceeds of the purchases went to Pet Rescue so we were happy to shop and help!

Greta poked her little head out of her puppy bag and grabbed the attention of whoever saw her big brown eyes. We had people taking her picture, little children were running up to meet her, we even let a few hold her. She is so sweet, she just melts your heart

Woofstock had so much to offer any dog lover, Fritzi got a doggie ice cream and shared with his little sister! There was everything from a doggie diving contest and dog water park to puppy sized cowboy hats. With so many dogs we bound to meet some interesting characters. Check out goggles the chihuahua. We had an awesome time and will totally go again next year!

On our way back up past the Falls we saw these amazing rock formations… so cool. Almost other worldly.

We’re off to shoot the wedding of Isabelle and Scott today. They’re getting married under a marquee tent at the Manor in Kettleby… dedicated blog readers may remember their shoot from last fall… here is the link . These guys are so much fun, I know we’ll have a ball!

When we arrived for our consultation, we were greeted with about 14 adorable puppies, wagging their tails with sheer joy at our presence! We made our way to where the newest arrives were kept and met three beautiful little girls. There was a gorgeous 5 month old, an adorable 10 week old, then off in one corner of the room, lying ona soft bed was THE tiniest puppy we’d ever seen! Bright brown, inquisitive eyes looked up at us, and we asked Cheryl if she minded us holding this little beauty.

“Sure. Meet Tiny or Tid Bit.” She called her, the runt of the litter. “When she was born, we feared she wouldn’t survive her first day”… she’s had a survival story that you have to hear….  she was born very tiny, with an underdeveloped liver. Although this has meant her body has grown more slowly than it should have, her heart is strong and her mind is sharp! She’s a battler, that’s for sure. She’s 4 months old and only weighs 2 lbs compared to the 11 lb. average for Miniature Dachshunds, but she loves to run and play with the other dogs. Within minutes, we knew she would be the perfect puppy for us - we could provide her the extra love she needed and be close at hand to care for her. We’ll have the time and attention to help this little girl one day grow up big and strong. Please help us welcome Little Baby Greta!!!

Dave and I were on opposite sides of the stage shooting the Fashion Show and couldn’t resist boogie-ing a little to the beats in between shots lol!!

We had so much fun I feel guilty calling this work, everyone was so friendly it was really more like a party. I really can’t say enough about the costumes you’ll love checking out the photos… I totally wish I could just try one on they’re soooo awesome!

Our friend Natasha was a model in the show on the “Green Team” she’s the one in the gigantic green wings. With a costume like that you’d think that they would have trouble with the weight, but Natasha says the costumes are literally light as a feather We met some great people running the event and did we mention beautiful models??!!

The models for the Fashion Show were absolutely stunning and so exotic, with gorgeous subjects like these Dave and I had photo ops everywhere we turned! Caribana hits Toronto August 2nd, but before the parade begins a lot of work goes into the party, lets take a look behind the scenes of Carnival Nationz! It all starts with a great group of people. Organizers, web designers,costume makers, highly skilled make-up artists and of course the absolutely beautiful models all do their part to make it come together. Before the show starts the model wait for hair, costume and make-up to arrive. Dave grabbed a shot of the girls patiently waiting before the show with the Ring Flash (I love this one)…ahhh the life of a model…hurry up and wait…

We really were so honoured to be a part of it all as the photographers for the Fashion Show check out the pic he took with the models from the White Team backstage Sooo much goes into the Show not to mention the parades. Each model has make-up artists that carefully creates nothing short of an absolutely stunning work of art for each of them. Little tiny beads and jewels are applied to the models faces, glitter glitter glitter galore and my favourite…feather eyelashes!!!

After make-up, it’s time to get into costume. These costumes are so incredible, they’d give any Las Vegas Showgirl a run for her money!! You’d think that the costumes would be really difficult to wear but they are so well designed and aren’t heavy at all. Stay tuned for more blog posts on all of the Caribana fun…

Charlotte had thought that it might be nice to update Larry’s photo a little to portray his modern image. Charlotte’s Dad was game so I grabbed the 85 mm f1.2 lens as Charlotte chose a few suit jackets for Larry. I’ve gotta say, really love this lens, it’s so perfect for portraits and head shots, it’s really a must for any pro.

It turns out that Larry is a natural model…who knew…and we got the shots we needed in about 10 minutes. We updated his photo on his site for him right away and after lunch Larry headed back to the office. It wasn’t long after that we were getting calls for more shoots The girls in the office wanted theirs done too! Charlotte and I were happy to oblige and made appointments with Christy Sylver and Cara Turcotte. Along with Larry, these two ladies have taken the Southampton Real Estate industry by storm.

I’ve worked along side Realtor’s for many years and actually started my career working for a Real Estate magazine as Art Director. This allowed me to shoot over 200 Realtor head shots! I think I’ve developed a eye for this sorta thing by now and really love the reaction I get when the client sees the end result! In Real Estate your image is everything and if your photo is out of date it just doesn’t look the professional. I’m really glad we had the chance to photograph the three of them. They have great personality and they were a real pleasure to work with! Thanks again guys and see you at the beach!

We met up with the couple outside of the venue for their wedding and chatted about locations for shoots. Dave and I had already scoped out a few hot spots before the couple arrived but we wanted to see if they had any particular ideas in mind. They’re getting married at The Scottish Rite in Hamilton, which is great because there is such a great mix in the way of old world architecture and cool, trendy modern buildings in that area for us to choose from.

This old abandoned building was one of the hot spots on our list. It was this absolutely stunning reddish-orange brick warehouse we found on some lonely side street. Sadly, It will be gone soon for a condo development but for now we thought it was a beautiful backdrop for our engagement shoot.

I love this shot I got below of the two of them. The richness of the bricks just pops off the page and Heather’s hair just looks soooo beautiful with the colours of the bricks.

Heather and Jamey have been in love for 6 years now and this July they will vow the deep love that has blossomed over their years together. You can tell they really are best friends and have a sweet love for each other.

I had to sneak this one in! I shot this one of Dave when he was shooting with the Telephoto Lens. He looks so cute, doesn’t he!

We arrived outside of the Capitol Theatre on Yonge st. and saw the crowd of people already milling both inside and out. Arriving so early in the evening, we knew there was going to be a large crowd if so many were already here. Dave and I waited in line for our press passes. Dave commented that he was so happy that every year the event gets bigger and bigger. The word is out there and the awareness is growing. Events like these help so much, more then we know. I pulled out our shot list and Dave was pumped to start right away. That was fine with me, there was just so much to photograph. So many vendors were on board…We had Starbucks Coffee, NYF New York Fries (I resisted…but don’t know how), Dairy Queen, (ok… I couldn’t resist) Cupcakes…Bite Catering had a gorgeous cupcake display set up, pink frosting as far as the eye could see. Did I mention all the wonderful hors d’oeuvres? My goodness…the food was seriously delectable!

We met so many generous, kind people they were all just there to support the cause make a difference. It was getting really busy now as the crowd moved toward the stage of the Capitol Theatre, there were sooo many supporters. We made our way to the front to get some shots of the singer Daphne entertaining us all in the crowd. Daphne has a beautiful voice and captivated us all with her music. It was a really well put together and well organized event. There were so many wonderful prizes like autographed NHL Hockey Jerseys and Spa Getaways, oh and WestJet gave away a round trip for two anywhere in Canada to one lucky winner!! All in all it was a great night, a great event for a great cause and we can’t wait to be part of it all next year.
